This was something I believed I would particularly find difficult, as I had been trained to be an Independent Woman… with my own money, paying my own bills *cue Destiny’s Child… “throw your hands up with me…” lol!
However!!! Praying about this area of my life was so key because at no point did I want to undermine Mr B’s headship in this area. Different people have different strengths. Sometimes it’s the wife who’s more savvy with finances and sometimes it’s the husband. It doesn’t matter who is the savvy one.
What does matter however is that you pray for his financial management because at the end of the day… as the head of the home… his role in directing how and where your money is spent is vital: your money now belongs to each other- there’s no more “his money” “her money” once you get married… (another aspect of marriage I had to pray about for God to help me with by the way).
If he has no restraint … he can gamble your future children’s school fees away in one night! Or he could get greedy/silly and want to invest EVERYTHING you both have into EVERY investment opportunity that comes his way right here, right now…thinking he’s doing a “good” thing but not considering the risk! Or that you shouldn’t put all of your eggs in one basket and all at the same time at that!!!
Pray for God to be his financial bank manager and pray for him to have a spirit of obedience in this area, as well as for God to give you a spirit of submission as to not undermine his financial decisions … pray for his financial decision making abilities instead of arguing with him about them…
For future wives… pray that any gambling addiction etc or anything that causes him to be wasteful in any way is completely far from his mindset even before marriage.
The goal is for you both one day to be so financially comfortable that you have more than enough for yourselves… more than enough to bless the kingdom of God… and more than enough to pay for your future children’s and GRANDCHILDREN’s school fees!!! And then some! Can I get an Amen?
Faith, Hope & Love,
Mrs B xx
